Chris leaves ROFMI

January 28th, 2012

Dear Friends

If you do not know already I thought I should tell you that for various good reasons Chris Bennett is no longer a member of the ROFMI team. A copy of his letter to me on this subject is below from which you can find out more about the new ministry the Lord is leading Chris and his wife to develop.

All of us in the ROFMI team are deeply grateful to Chris for the contribution he has made to our ministry not least with regard to communication. In future all ROFMI matters will be communicated by me personally to our contacts abroad. Similarly, please contact me direct with anything to do with ROFMI.

With all good wishes,

Yours in Christ
Peter Barnes

-----

Greetings! Just a quick note to let you know that we have pulled away from ROFMI. Since we've moved 150 miles away from the ROFMI area we have found it difficult to stay actively involved.

Since there has only been one trip I've been involved with since June we felt that God was telling us to pull away and to trust Him for our ministry.

We have left with Peter's full blessing and there is absolutely no severing of friendships there. In ministry, as well as in life, there are seasons and we feel that the Lord has said that this season has ended.

We have been embraced by our new church into leadership training and are tremendously blessed by their confidence in us. We are free to be of any assistance to any if you if you would like for us to be.

Our new ministry name is T.O.M.I. (Thirteen One Ministries International) based on Joshua 13:1

All love and blessings
Chris & Linda

Sweden, May 2011

May 24th, 2011

Another very early start – 03:30a.m. – saw us arrive in Goteborg/Gothenburg around 10:10a.m. Follow this with a 3 hour – one stop - drive to Helsingborg and you get the idea of a long distance start to our latest trip. Peter, John, and I were in Sweden as the guests of Tommy & Andrea Josefsson and their 4 boys. We had four official meetings but our plans aren’t always the same as Gods plans – as you will see.

Norway and Denmark 27th April to 2nd May 2011

May 2nd, 2011

Peter set off from Stansted airport on Wednesday afternoon by himself, which was an unwise thing to do as normally he is accompanied by at least one team member, and whilst he was flying to Norway two of his guest Pastors were flying from Denmark to Norway to meet Peter at the S.B.I. School. These were Pastor Stan of the Gospel Church International and Pastor David, one of the leaders of the Copenhagen Community Church. Peter had invited them to join him at the school to assist him in the teaching.

Begen, Norway, 31st March to 4th April 2011

April 19th, 2011

Bergen having been  in our mind for two years, the vision came through. We have been talking about the west of Norway almost since one of the first times we met, but there were always something that didn't work out to let us go there. There was only one thing to do: Wait for the Lord and his guidance when and where to go. In the beginning of this year Peter was told that there were things on the move in the western part of Norway. Bergen area to be more precise. It is the second largest city of Norway, with some 300.000 inhabitants including surrounding (similar to "London area") communities. A pastor friend (Preben Westh in Denmark) had already introduced us to Derek Prince Ministries in Norway, led by a man named Sverre Christoffersen. Within a few days and some calls, everything fell into position like the last pieces of a puzzle. Air fares in Norway were one third of normal (!), Norwegian team members were all available, Sverre was available, places and people were available. The excitement and expectation were just - HIGH !

Ireland, April 2011

April 12th, 2011

Let’s see – it’s Thursday and it’s 4.30 a.m. We must be off somewhere – oh yes – Ireland. Dublin again except we are off 90km southwest of Dublin to Portlaoise (pronounced Portleash). We were met by Pastors Mark and Christian – also otherwise known as Pastors Puyo and Citrom in their own Slovak language. We were there to visit the Word of Life Slovak Gypsy Church of Ireland. This was arranged after our first visit a few weeks back to Bratislava in Slovakia where we met many of these wonderful people of God. It’s a funny feeling being in Ireland, a country like our own, that drives on the left, and speaks English, yet needing translation into both the Slovak and Romany languages. On the way, we stopped in Dublin to pick up our favourite Barnies Coffee from their outlet in Clery’s on O’Connell Street – thats not a free advert but a big thank you to the guys for accommodating us.  We started off with lunch and a meeting with 14 folk from the church leadership and worship teams. There was a lot of prayer too as this turned out to be almost a seminal moment for the church and, indeed, for many of the people. As often happens, the 7.00p.m. meeting started prompt at 9:00p.m. and went on til after midnight. As the whole conference we were there to minister to was about the prophetic, it seemed appropriate to prophesy to various people around the meeting room. We had a reserved slot for the leadership a little later on in the three day programme.

Holland, March 2011

March 22nd, 2011

Just Peter and I went this time after a very short, two full days, relax on our return from Slovakia the previous weekend. We arrived at Schiphol Airport, on Thursday afternoon, to be met by Lydia and Sarah who drove us straight to de Hught in Rhenen to the home of a dear friend Christine de Groot. It was my first visit to this magnificent country house set in peaceful seclusion in about 5 hectares of grounds. It even has its own 40-50 seat chapel within the house – WOW – say no more. We had come there before going to Op de Rots in Amsterdam for some relaxation and fellowship and we talked late into the evening.

Slovakia, March 2011

March 15th, 2011

This was a new exploit for the RoFMI team. Nearly two years ago, we were in Ireland and we had met some wonderful people from Slovakia. At long last, after much prayer, we set off last Thursday for the capital city, Bratislava. We travelled with a man partly responsible for organising the whole trip, Stanislav along with his daughter, Asul, and a young Slovakian man, Alex, from the church in Ireland.  Arriving at 10:00 o’clock at night we were met by 3 cars and six people and all 5 of us set of in convoy for a town called Gatalan where our hosts had arranged hotel accommodation for us. We felt at home immediately when we stopped at McDonalds, opposite Marks & Spencer, C&A, and Tesco – of all the British companies to find. The hotel? The Grand – of course !!

Denmark, February 2011

March 1st, 2011

Well this trip set a new precedent in that we managed to fit in even more meetings – as you will see. We rose very early Friday morning to catch the first flight to Copenhagen where we arrived at 10:00. Wait a minute – what’s all this white stuff on the ground? SNOW ???? Ours went weeks ago – apparently not here in Denmark. There waiting to meet us at the airport, even as we stepped off the plane(!!!), were our old friend Carsten and a new friend John who is Pastor of a place called Christiana – a community living in an old, largely disused, army camp somewhere around Copenhagen. There are about 1000 people there and it is home to the homeless, addicts, those with drink problems, and the displaced or disadvantaged – and with not a little violence too.  John is a brave man working for God is a place most Christians wouldn’t even dare to go let alone live. AND his family is with him there too although that is currently under reconsideration. We spent a long hour in fellowship with these two men of God and felt lifted afterwards. Peter is trying to arrange a visit to Christiana at the next reasonable opportunity.

Amsterdam & Oslo, January 2011

January 19th, 2011

Well, here’s a new one for all of us – two trips at the same time !! Peter, Jonathan, Jean & John all went off to Amsterdam while Keith, Linda and I went off to the Kraftskolen just outside Oslo. And we both saw clear signs of revival in both places.
